Blogging

Who wants to blog? Why do people blog? Random thoughts being generated across the World Wide Web. I call my blog musing's since this is my site of random ideas - thoughts - links. So expect a mix of Speculative Fiction, Library Issues, tech/geek - gee -wiz stuff and just my personal ramblings.

SteamPunk

As I continue my fascination with all things SteamPunk I have found a couple of sites that have become a must see to visit: SteamPunk Workshop, a blog site The SteamPunk Home, Aether Emporium, and Steampunkopedia.

So what is SteamPunk? A great site called Brass Googles has a couple of really great definitions about what SteamPunk is - but for me it is the What if Jules Verne's Victorian visions became reality? What if everything we know and use was based on that technology? What if 'steam' as a power source had shaped our current and future worlds? SteamPunk comforatably combines the romanticism of the past with the technology of the future and an aesthetic of beautiful craftmanship. As a genre, the art work and writings seem both nostalgic and futuristic. Think of Flash Gordon meets Phileas Fogg. Look at some Flickr pics to see some of the very cool Steampunk creations that happened at the recent Maker Faire.

Well the Sox will be staying in Ft. Myers for the foreseeable new future and will be getting a new stadium to be built in Lee County for the 2012 season - a new Fenwayesque park complete with a Green Monster - not as good as being at Fenway but this New England girl is looking forward to the prospect. Red Sox Nation - the Fenway Faithful have seen this before - never count the Boys of Boston out - they live for October baseball. Finally some of the bats have been swinging - not the huge slammers, but thats OK - hit - get the guy on base and get some runs in. Beckett and the bullpen toughed it out after a shaky start - bless them for shutting down the Rays at the Trop. Papelbon - man this guy is a star - you just know if Boston is ahead and you can get the ball to him - lights out.

So looking forward to tonights game - hope that Franconia and the boys can send it back to Fenway for home field advantage against the Phillies.

Red Sox Nation

Sad day for this die hard Bo Sox fan - but all hope is not lost - hopefully my boys in Boston can freeze out the Rays tomorrow night and stay alive in their quest for another World Series title. The pitching has been dismal - the offense lackluster, come on boys - show the world why you are the reigning champions - how about another fabulous 'blue moon' moment. Pleeaasee.

Blog away

OK - So I am reluctant to write my thoughts down (especially on the Internet) but I have this blog - have had it for awhile now and haven't used it. I figure now is the time to start, I will be leading some sessions on blogging and Web/Library 2.0 so I figure I should actually walk the walk - not just the talk.

No promises about how often I will post - this may be worse than a dental visit. Hopefully it will become second nature and dare I hope, informative.

Not pushing my luck here today - will try to come back and write more tomorrow.
